Why you become a Governor: |
Having worked across a variety of roles within the Education Service for over 20 years, I welcomed the opportunity to become a parent governor at a local primary school. During this initial term of office, I found my roles as local authority officer and school governor to be mutually beneficial – my knowledge and experience supported the development of the school, and the insight to school life that I gained gave me valuable skills to bring to my professional role. For that reason, I was pleased to be offered an opportunity to become a governor at Lewis Girls Comprehensive School when my term of office at the primary school came to an end. For me, being a governor is a two-way process, with my professional role supporting the school and my role as a governor supporting my work. Being a governor is challenging but rewarding, and I’m grateful for the opportunities and experiences that being a governor has given me. |
